Curveballs

The Almosta Blog Posted on April 23, 2015 by MyriamSeptember 13, 2018

Life has a way of throwing you curveballs when you least want/need them. Not nice, Life. Not nice at all. First, my last post was a year ago. How did a full year go by without me writing something? I don’t know. I can’t even come up with a real excuse. I’ve just been a bad, bad girl, I guess. So time to do some catching up.

Curveball #1: In my last post, I mentioned letting go of the shooting club’s website maintenance. Well, that didn’t last very long. A few months after transferring the maintenance to someone else, a succession of events put me back in charge and things got busy. A third website was created for the 1st Annual RoughRider Roundup match held by the Dakota RoughRiders Cowboy Action Shooters. As of the writing of this post, we are starting to update the site for this year’s match so there isn’t much to see at the moment. However, you could view last year’s pictures. Who knows, it might make you want to come and join us. If you have no idea what Cowboy Action Shooting is, you can learn more on the Dakota RoughRiders’ website, as well as on the website of the Single Action Shooting Society (SASS).

Curveball #2: My business still isn’t running. I have a small inventory ready, but I’m currently stopped because of a lack of funds. I was wondering whether to participate in fairs and/or open an online store. It became obvious pretty quickly that the fairs wouldn’t work. The cost of renting a booth is pretty high and would make it pretty hard, if not impossible, to turn in a profit. So I decided to go with an online website. Of course, I need a bank account so I can make transactions online. Well, there’s a minimum amount of money required to open a business account and I just don’t have it at the moment. I’ve been putting money aside for a while now, but it’s a slow process. When will my online store be open for business? At this point, I have no idea. I haven’t given up though. Slowly, but surely, I guess we’ll get there.

Otherwise, life has been treating our little family pretty well and that’s a good thing.

Moving Forward

The Almosta Blog Posted on January 22, 2014 by MyriamSeptember 13, 2018

Well, it’s done. Yesterday evening, I transferred the websites I was maintaining for the shooting club to a new webmaster. After five years, and the need for more time to start my business, it was time to let them go. It’s bitter-sweet though. Part of me wanted to keep working on them, but I also need to earn a living and the websites were volunteer work. I’m going to miss working with and for the club members. I also learned so much about websites. One thing is sure, WordPress is a good software package. It can do so much!

Anyway, time to look forward and get the business rolling. I started planning the workspace and I’ve been ordering more supplies. In a month or two at the most, I’ll be able to start making what I’ll be selling. I’m not saying what it’ll be yet, I want to be ready first. Hopefully, you can all patiently wait a couple months to discover what my product will be.

The Almosta Ranch website

The Almosta Blog Posted on July 20, 2010 by MyriamSeptember 13, 2018

Finally got caught up with all the pictures I took in the past year and a half. Sure I’m glad it’s done because now I can officially open the Almosta Ranch website!

AlmostaRanchWeb01

The look of the home page will eventually change because right now it’s not much in terms of design. I started a new look using CSS for formatting but it will be a little while before it’s completed.

So come and see all the beautiful sights that North Dakota has to offer!
